Calling All Tea Lovers! This Recipe is For You!
On November 29, 2017 by sandraThere are people who are coffee lovers and then there are tea lovers……It’s an understatement when I tell you that I am definitely a tea lover. There are so many different types of teas; black tea, green tea, herbal tea, and chamomile to name a few and they all can serve different purposes. For me, depending on the type of tea I am drinking, it will 1) put me in a state of relaxation in the evening after the hustle and bustle of a long day, 2) give me the caffeine fix I need during the day, or 3) if I ate too many french fries (one of my favorite foods) or other greasy foods, it will help me digest the food I’ve eaten. I just love it. My ultimate favorite time to drink tea though is on the weekend in the morning right after I wake up when I am still snuggled in bed and catching up on my reading. You can’t help but feel cozy.
During this holiday season, I wanted to share one of my favorite tea recipes. This tea is so fitting for the holidays as it will literally make your house smell like cinnamon Christmas deliciousness almost like cinnamon pot pourri or any other holiday scented candles. What’s cool about this recipe is that there are such few ingredients and it is so easy to make!
All you will need is the following items:
- 6 cloves (give or take..doesn’t have to be exact)
- 2 cinnamon sticks
- 1 Earl Grey teabag
- ~ 2.5 cups of water
- 1 teapot and 1 kettle
- 1 strainer
Instructions–
1) Make your concentrate:
- Add your cloves and cinnamon sticks to a teapot full of about 1.5 cups of water. You don’t want to add too much water to this mixture as you want the flavoring of the cinnamon and cloves to be strong. Bring your mixture to a boil. Once your mixture comes to a boil, add your tea bag to the water for about 30 seconds to get the flavoring/caffeine from the tea bag as well.
2) In a separate kettle, boil a cup of water without any of the ingredients mentioned above.
3) After both liquids have come to a boil, combine them into your mug as below:
- First, strain 1/4 cup of the liquid from your concentrate into your mug (your flavoring)
- Second, fill the remaining part of your mug with the plain water you boiled.
And voila! You are all set to enjoy your tea while enjoying the aroma of cinnamon in your home!
You can definitely adjust how much of the concentrate you want in your mug ; there really isn’t a set science to this, just whatever is to your liking. The amount of water you add to your teapot is up to you as well, depending on if you have some guests to share this special recipe with.
I hope you enjoy this recipe and until next time….
Bachigner XOXO,
Sandra
